Victron with AC-coupled SolarEdge - no battery charging from PV

Good-day. We are running a 3-ph Victron system comprising 3 x Muliplus 5kW inverters together with a 1 x 3-ph SolarEdge SE-17k grid tie inverter. The system is basically working o.k. but I am not succeeding with maximum self-consumption. The energy produced by the SolarEdge successfully powers the household loads but never seems to charge the battery. The SolarEdge is connected on the load side of the Victron inverters, not the grid. It appears that the SolarEdge is throttling it’s output so that none of the energy produced feeds into the Victrons and then to charge the battery. We have connected the SolarEdge to the GX via RS-485 and it is seen and recognised. Does anyone know what the key checkpoints are for this setup ?

It seems that no one was able to provide advice on this issue. Have you managed to solve the problem? I’m currently facing the same challenge as I’m preparing to connect a SolarEdge inverter to the output of Multiplus units.

Did you refer to this documentation: Integrating with SolarEdge [Victron Energy]?

Do you know what this statement means:

“Note: In addition to the settings above it is important to contact SolarEdge Support to change a parameter in the backend to allow the frequency shifting with APS mode.”

I couldn’t find any additional information about this, and it’s unclear what exactly I should request from SolarEdge Support to ensure they understand my inquiry correctly.

Hi,

No, unfortunately I have not been able to find clarity on this issue.

Regards,

If the issue lies in the fact that only the batteries are not being charged from the SolarEdge inverter, it seems that your Victron ESS is not configured properly.
It is Victron, not SolarEdge, that determines when the batteries should be charged. I recommend reviewing the ESS settings in your Victron system to ensure everything is set up correctly to manage battery charging.

I have two Victron systems, both with 3 Phase Solaredge and they work propperly. Do you see the correct values of the solaredge and the grid in VRM?

Are you running ESS? If not, do you have the PV Inverter assistant loaded on each Multi? You will need one or the other.
