Victron Phoenix 12/30 Failure

Phoenix 12/30 has failed. Installed in 2013 and has operated without issue, only having had the cooling fan replaced over 5 years ago since it had become noisy.

It is not normally powered on in winter, but powered on every month for a couple of days to top up batteries’ self-discharge.

At last power up, it entered ABS mode for the expected 12 mins, and then the voltage dropped back.

16 mins later it started another ABS cycle - I’ve never seen it do this before - which lasted 24 mins, then appearing to return to reduced voltage and then apparently died.

Voltages were recorded in my home-made monitor which records data every 30s.

Batteries 1 & 2 are 100Ah AGMs, about 6 months old. After last charge on 19/12 both are now resting at 12.96 & 12.93V
Battery 3 is a 28Ah AGM, and is over 10, but seems to be holding up, and is only used for engine starting. This is resting at 12.73V

I have no reason to suspect an issue with the batteries, but something made the charger start that second ABS charge, and it wasn’t a power failure either.

Phoenix now showing no lights, completely dead. I’ll need to uninstall it and get it on the bench for a look, but thought I’d share this in case anyone has seen this failure mechanism.

Any thoughts welcome.
