I was helping a friend getting his victron system up and running. All is okay, but one thing triggers my attention.
The system uses a Lynx BMS (non NG version) on non victron batteries. Therefore the BMS port is bypassed with the victron cable. The device is only used as battery monitor and installed for its DC contactor. I see some issues with the battery monitor.
So it should reset SoC to 100% when voltage of 55,1 AND tail current is 1,5% (so 1,5% of 628A = 9,42a = 520w) is reached for 10 minutes. Right? This is at least how my own smartshunt works.

But at this specific time the reset limits/boundaries were absolutely not reached as you can see. It looks like the Lynx Smart BMS 500 is completely ignoring setting for the SoC reset.
Is this expected behavior for the Lynx SmartBMS (non NG)? Or am I missing something here?

With respect, you’re using a product in a non-supported manner, using a function intended for use only as a testing method… as such, “expected” behavior doesn’t really exist.
I’ll move this topic over to the Modifications Space for other experimental/non-supported use-case users to weigh in, possible someone in there will have suggestions!
So you are telling me the battery monitor function (with is just a shunt in my opinion) is depending on the availability of a victron brand battery? Bypassing the BMS with the victron cable is a supported method right?
Has the BMS/Shunt be synchronized to 100% correctly? That means charging until the charging current is 0A?
The SOC always goes up if there is a current going into the battery and that way it can reach “100%” before the settings for the synchronization are reached.
It’s supported for testing not for permanent use with non-Victron batteries.
