Very odd Battery and Multi RS behavior

Is this behavior ok to keep like this. I probably need to do a firmware update it on. The supplier is sending me another BMS as well. So I might attempt a firmware update when I get the next lot of 15kwh kit.

Yes no problem to micro cycle your battery. It’s just like you say not so beautiful behavior. I sometimes set an DVCC max charge limit voltage at for example 54.4V ( the exact value differs per battery and BMS) this way the batteries will balance and charge up to 98-99 percent.

Hi Daniel, its Daniel here.

I’m in NSW and have just connected my 4 x 16kwh Alibaba Yixiang battery DIY boxes to my Victron system.

I had a 2000 ah AGM battery for the past 15 years.

I havent bothered with comms as yet.

All i did was replace the AGM bank with the LiFePo4 box.

I adusted the JK bms setting to 16s and selected the LFP option.

It’s all working perfectly.

In due course i may ‘play’ around with comms etc but no rush at all.

In my experience, the battery will sometimes display 99% and sometimes 100% depending on how long it is on charge float (balancing). You still haven’t posted your JK-BMS settings as they determine what is considered 100% charge. Great that you found the issue - I’d be rechecking all those terminations.

Hi Daniel, Great name by the way!

I may have found my issue, The cycle I’ve been monitoring from Home Assistant have been doing very well, It’s been getting to 99% and then charging stops and the remaining solar just goes to house usage which is cool and exactly what I wanted. Decent setup 4x 16kw!!!. I got the supplier from Alibaba who actually have been very helpful and they are sending me a new BMS free of charge as a spare and they are sending me 2x WiFi modules so I can use them instead of the bluetooth devices.

I will get those settings shortly, I need to be next to the device to get them. I’m waiting for my Wifi module to arrive so I can access from Home Assistant soon

Yes, that is the most annoying thing about Bluetooth only devices. I’ve found a particularly good resource for JK-BMS settings to integrate correctly with Victron is Andy over at Off-Grid Garage on YT. https://www.youtube.com/@OffGridGarageAustralia

Thanks John,

I enjoy Andy’s channel, he has some great guides. I will look at more of his stuff tonight. I want the setup to be almost as best as I can get it.

What are “WiFi modules”.

I’m almost ready to get my next 2 DIY XiYiang batteries with MB56 cells (96kwh) however a little wary of the QC of XiYiang Energy (alibaba).

What BMS do you have and how have you connected it to the Victron Cerbo? I also need help with my master/slave comms.. I tried to connect it up as per JK instructions however the master is not displaying the “packs” on the battery lcd display.

Which company did you buy from?

Did you test them individually for full capacity and discharge before commissioning the assembled battery?

This is what I do to my cells as soon as they arrive.

I also had charging problems with 6 out of 32 cells; they slow down the charging process when they reach 3.34V as opposed to the others becoming unbalanced.

Having taken the data during the initial test will enable me to test them again, as soon as the replacement arrives, and compare the current reading with the previous ones, and if I find that there was a rapid degradation, I shall ask for a replacement
