I am considering upgrading my off grid system with the RS Inverter Multi.
My intention is to control the inverter via ve.direct port using the USB-ve.direct cable connected to a PC running the VictronConnect program for Windows.
I have read the datasheet and in the notes, it seems to suggest that the ve.can and ve.direct are for different purposes like ve.can for CerboGX connection and ve.direct for GlobalLink 520 connection only.
Does anybody know whether the inverter supports on/off commands and full system configuration via the ve.direct port or is this limited to the ve.can port only?
Does the ve.direct port on RS 48/6000/100 still implement the ‘Text’ and ‘HEX protocol’ similar to that of the SmartSolar products?
I have only found protocol documentation on the victron energy website for the Phoenix Inverter and SmartSolar MPPT chargers.
Is there any additional documentation for the ve.direct HEX protocol specific to the Multi RS Inverter series?
Hello @Darren,
I’m trying to interface a Multi RS too over VEDirect and so far everything looks like working, at least on the monitoring side.
I’m struggling anyway to get a detailed list of VEDirect registers for the device since I’ve too only found the aforementioned docs about VEDirect (Phoenix) inverters and BlueSolar MPPT.
In my testing, the Multi carries (at least) all the registers from the Phoenix and all of the MPPT RS (or a great bunch of them) plus many other since the features of the device are even more rich than a simple union of them.
So far, beside retrieving live data for almost everything, I’ve just implemented and tested managing the DEVICE_MODE (HEX 0x0200) register for the good, being able to enable/disable charger and inverter functions but nothing more…
