Variable grid charges in Germany from 2025

IMHO it’s a matter of “you get what you are paying for”! Take a look at solarmanager for instance and their pricing - this should give you an “idea”

Would you be willing to pay a monthly fee for DESS? I am really thankful for what I’m getting without such a fee and they keep improving it continuously (slowly of course, which reflects the price, but they do!).

Is there anything new regarding variable grid charges or additional functions in the DESS pricing formula? When I last inquired, I was told that it had been somewhat forgotten but is now on the to-do list. I know that some people in Europe have been waiting for this for a while. Things are getting slow for us in Germany, too, if you choose Model 3 according to Energy Industry Act 14a. I don’t want to be a nuisance; so far, I’ve relied on Victron to find a solution for an additional price variable depending on the time of day. It’s a shame that I, at least, haven’t read anything about this.

Hi @Sarowe1990 ,

We are working on it. We are first simplifying the Dynamic ESS sign up flow, as we noticed that many people fill out incorrect values simply because it is difficult content to get through.

Once that is live, we can implement the variable formulas on top of the redesign.

Thank you for your patience!

Great idea and a good approach. I’ve been following this forum and this thread closely and with interest. I think most of the malfunctions are due to configuration issues, especially with the charging and discharging parameters. Another problem, from my perspective as a small user, is that you might want to reconsider a reserve Min Soc for unexpected consumption. Complaints about this are quite common when unexpected consumption occurs overnight and then additional power needs to be purchased. But I certainly don’t want to interfere with your development work. I’ll keep hoping for dynamic grid charges. Don’t make it so complicated via API and reading; that will only cause further problems. A time-dependent programmable variable in the sales formula is sufficient, in my opinion. Thanks for the info.

From my own experience, the topic is not so complex and not your formula or VRM page.

But every energy provider is splitting the costs differently and the main challenge is to figure the elements out to put it in a formula even on paper.

I would appreciate a “simulation” while editing the formula. Provide a list of time slots for the variables like p for stock price or gp for grid price. Slots could be 15 minutes. If a slot is empty, it could derive the value from previous slot, maybe indicated by light grey color.

Then draw the graph based on the slots, so we can see the resulting price directly. The graph should show each variable and the sum.

As stretch goal, provide a date picker to autofill p into the slots for a specific past date from ENSO for the configure price zone, so we can compare with a bill.

For any clarification of this idea, please reach out.
