Hi,
Super newby question.
I want to use the ac2 out on my multiplus II as the dump to heat the hot water, however, I don’t want it to be automatic.
How do I use an external switch/timer to turn ON the ac2 output manually please!
Thanks!

Hi Jeff.
Take a look at Assistants… VEConfigure Assistants [Victron Energy]
Just hook your switch/timer across an Aux port in the Multi (potential free is fine) and go from there.
Might be a bit of a challenge to get your head around how they work, but come back if you need help with it.
Wire the load with a switch? Then it is not automatic.
Why wire it from AC2 if you don’t want it to be automatic?
ACOUT-2 ist a power Output operated by a miniature switch wired to AUX input.
Hi John,
Thanks. I had read everything I could find about assistants.
To confirm, I can just wire a switch across the pos and neg inputs to Aux 1. I don’t need any resistor? It’s ok to short the pos and neg terminals together via a switch?
Then I would be able to detect the switch closing in one of the assistants?
Is that correct?
Thanks
Jeff
Yes, just short the Aux1 terminals. No resistor needed. It’s an input port and designed to do that.
For the Assistants, just need to use a couple of Programmable Relay Assistants (one for ON, one for OFF) to detect Aux1 and switch ACOut2.
Edited: Fixed my mistake. Thanks Fideri.
Hi John,
Brilliant. Thanks.
Initially I just want to have it manual and then will add automatics later via the assistants.
Really appreciate your help.
Cheers
Jeff
Sorry John,
Follow up question.
Currently I have 1 x 5kw multiplus. Later, if I add a second, can I use the aux inputs and ac2 out on both? If they are in parallel does this effect the aux input and ac2 out ?
Thanks
Jeff
You’ll still need the Assistants for a ‘manual’ setup. A parallel system can be set up the same way.
@JohnC
Question: Is a general flag assistant needed? In my case, I switch on and off the AC Out 2 of the Quattro using only programmable assistants. I send a Cerbo signal to the aux port of the Quattro. That seems to work perfectly.
F.
You’re absolutely right F, thanks. ACOut2 can be selected from within the PR Assistant. I’ll fix my post…
Hi Fideri,
You use one of the cerbo programmable outputs wired into the MP2 aux port? Can you expand on how you do this please?
Thanks.
Jeff
@SailSaulbrious
Yes. I use Relay 1 on the Cerbo (Any ordinary switch would do the same as @JohnC notes). Then the Cerbo relay is to wired to Aux 1 positive and negative of the Quattro. I use 1 programmable assistant to switch on AC Out 2 and a second programmable assistant to switch it off, depending on the on or off signal sent by the Cerbo (which I control via Node Red).
The old forum has a post on wiring parallel inverters. I will see if I can find the link.
F.
Thanks awesome.
Thanks guys.
Really appreciate it.
Cheers
Jeff
The link as promised: https://communityarchive.victronenergy.com/questions/277971/how-do-i-connect-1-cerbo-relay-to-2-aux-inputs-on.html
Laid it out perfectly.
I am still not sure if I will put them in parallel or leave the two inverters split. But at least I now understand the aux inputs.
Thanks
