An idea for the future. We always have situations where prices are particularly high or particularly cheap. Couldn’t we introduce an additional function for special charges or sales in the future? For example, a very low amount per kWh, below which the system buys as much electricity as possible, even above the target Soc? Or the other way around, a high amount above which all energy is sold without considering the time to come? Perhaps as a suggestion for the future.
Hello @Sarowe1990 , I think Victron have quite well addressed this functionality with their Dynamic Energy Storage System ( DESS) where they take into account the forward energy Tarif used in quite a few different countries to dictate how the energy is used or fed back to the grid.
@TrevorBird I know how the DESS works and have been using it for almost a year. Normally, when prices are low, the DESS charges enough energy from the grid to have enough energy until the end of the next time interval. But in my system, that doesn’t correspond to 100% Soc. My idea now is to charge beyond the target Soc to 100% Soc at extremely low prices. There is no doubt that Victron is doing great work and is looking for solutions for the diverse European markets. I don’t see this as a requirement that needs to be implemented, but rather as a suggestion for further optimization.
@Sarowe1990 I see, apologies for not fully understanding the situation. Yes, a good suggestion for the future.
An apology is completely unnecessary. Perhaps I expressed myself in a misleading way. I am concerned about the matter because I am so convinced of the basic idea of the DESS. There are also a number of discussions here about the DESS beyond this community and I have noticed a number of times that this has been an idea in discussions.
Maybe add two options:
- Energy Meter role for special loads to isolate those from normal loads to help the system learning consumption
- The proposal: feature to toggle full load at a specific rate, maybe read from I/O-pin for a manual button
- Define a price limit when starting full load in conjunction with the button or pv -forecast
…adding to the list:
4. introduce a second tariff for special loads (quite common with heatpumps or EV-Charger, in my part of the world).
