Solar Output 6x400W way too low?!

Hallo,

On our Sailing catamaran, we have a Victron system and basically we are very happy with it.

From the start, I never had a good feeling about the efficiency of the solar panels.

We have four panels on an arch, two on the rooftop. Each panels has its own MPPT.

The boat is in the Caribbean now.

We see about 750 W mostly during the day.

The performance varies between 3 and 4 kWh.

MY QUESTION:

Is that in line of expectations? I would expect much more performance from the 2400W solar panels ….

Please advise.

Is there anything I should double check on the installation? Maybe energy gets lost at some point in the system?

Kind regards,

Peter

Dirt and shading can have a huge impact on the performance.

Also, the glass is made to withstand all sorts of harshness and people think they can stand on them… and you can, but there is a risk of hairline cracks forming in the cells giving more electrical resistance which you can see as heat on a IR cam.

Is your wiring to the panels the right size? (AWG/mm2)
