Smartshunt IP65 and temperature sensor installation

Some facts to narrow this down first:

Smartshunt IP65
Optional temp sensor for BMV-702/712 - ASS000100000
Smartshunt manual - Limited information, general in nature
Smartshunt quick setup. Limited info but provides a good clear diagram.

My question builds upon another question posed here (if i remember correctly - maybe archived version) some time ago but I cannot find… The diagram in the IP65 quick setup clearly shows both the red (power) cable and AUX (grey) cable fused to complete the temperature sensor setup. A questioner checked this and a reply stated why they ‘thought’ the AUX cable should be fused? When it was pointed out that the smartshunt IP65 has fixed wiring (unlike non-IP65 version where inputs are front RHS via ferrules) there came no response.

Question: Does the AUX (grey) cable in the Smartshunt IP65 require fusing?

Thanks.

Consider what would happen if the grey wire got damaged and shorted to chassis.

Now ask yourself what difference a fuse next to the battery would make to the outcome.

I think you are referring to this section of the manual

The temperature sensor of the Shunt is on one side electrically connected to the battery plus/the lug it sits in, and on the other side to the black cable. So it is carrying battery voltage through the temperature probe back to the aux input. The red wire is connected directly to the lug itself.

I would add a fuse, for both red an black cable close to the battery.

The difference to the temperature sensors of the Multiplus/Quattro is that they are electrically isolated from the lug they sit in, the lug is solely a form of transferring heat

Thanks to both. Makes sense and doubt myself less…
