i currently have a MPPT 100 amp EPREC regulator and have 900 watts of solar panel on a boat that will have new AGM batteries. I do not like the quality of the EPREC system would you recommend the size unit i need to employ by Victron
You can put your panel specification and config into the calculator and it will recommend one for you.
We can help if tell us what battery voltage the system is and panel set up electrically. And of course some panel specs. Since the other charge controller is a pwm are all your panels in parallel? -you will possibly need to change that.
You mention marine in your tags, is shading a consideration or is it one open array?
My system is an open array on top of my boat, when i upgrade this spring the system will be 900 watts. I have four series 31 AGM batteries . I would like to install the solar panels in parallel and like the advantages that provides. I understand that the system will then be possible of approx. 45 amps, at a voltage of 12-20 volts. I believe i need to upgrade to a MPPT regulator that will handle a voltage as described and an amperage of 45. Based on a parallel system that makes amperage additive
900W ÷ 12v = 75A. So the mppt needs to be at least that.
At 20v is 45A but if you get a smaller one the i out current limit may be too low for all in parallel.
Is it one or two panels? Or a bunch of smaller ones.
