Shunt replacement?

We are using the MBV-712 monitor, which came with the 500A shunt. We are designing a product where weight is a critical factor and as our 24VDC system will see 20A max, we should be able to trim some weight by using a smaller shunt. I assume it is possible to use a different (non-Victron) shunt with this monitor. If so, what are the key parameters that I need to ensure that shunt has so that the monitor will properly display the attributes of my batteries?

The 300A shunt weight is 0.235g vs 500A 0.3235g. Depending on the shunt you are considering, likely only about 90g more than an average 30A ones’s weight not accounting for the PCB at 12g. Of course this will invalidate the warranty.
