My installer set me up as a “user”. I do not seem to have the ability to set alarms (for my own use). Is this correct? If so, could this be changed in a future release of the app? Thank you.
For example, as a homeowner I think I should have the ability to be notified if my battery SOC goes low. That way I can conserve power use for a later time.
It’s understandable that not everyone has full admin access. In my experience, a few homeowners in my fleet do not, either because they prefer not to manage the site themselves or because, in some cases, having access can lead to unintended issues—even after receiving basic training and guidance.
If the installer hasn’t granted you full admin access, they’ve effectively committed to handling any changes like this on your behalf at any time.
So request away.
Either for admin access - since it is your site - with the understanding that they may charge if things are unintentionally changed that had adverse effects.
I asked my installer to give me “technician” status thinking at the time that then I could add alarms. It’s been more than a week without a reply. Requests to add, modify or delete alarms for me would probably also be ignored.
I’m leery of having administrator privileges. Just seems silly not to allow alarms at the “user” level.
Its not too different from technician level to be honest. The main difference being you can’t remove an admin from the site.
Definitely disappointing. Since really they have assumed the responsibility of being in full control of system set up and admin by not allowing you the privilege level required of administrative changes.
(FYI -I have changed your tags on your post.)
For this i do know several users wet stuff like grid lost etc and then installers disable (bun fight ensues -disclaimer: not a personal experience ) them because they don’t like seeing the red banner and systems all popping up into alarm over something that is ‘not an alarm’ for them.
So sometimes I actually would like something similar to what you are requesting - being able to set an alarm that i as an installer could receive (for example something in particular i want to watch for that is potentially problematic on an install) that the end user won’t and for them to get their basic warnings like your SOC or grid lost alarm without those bothering me since they aren’t actually a problem.
Aaaaah. I was under the misconception that alarms could be limited to an account. I certainly would not want to bother my installer with my trivial alarms. I will need to rethink my wishes.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question!
