Hi there,
We have an existing grid-interactive PV system, with an interconnection / bi-directional meter, and permission to export excess production to the grid. We’d like to introduce Quattros to store excess daytime PV production, and consume that energy in the evening. The existing PV system will be AC-coupled to the load-side of the system, and there will be an energy meter on the PV output circuit integrated with a Cerbo GX.
I understand it is relatively simple to configure a self-consumption system using ESS. I’m based in the US, where we may not be able to leverage the grid-interactive features of the ESS assistant (i.e., given the lack of appropriate grid code and subsequent inability to gain proper utility permission to operate the Quattros in grid interactive mode).
For a grid-tied system without ESS assistant, what is the simplest way to prioritize charging from AC-coupled PV while the grid is connected?
I’ve seen other threads that rely on a combination of “Solar and wind priority” combined with “AC Ignore” to accomplish something similar, but does “Solar and wind priority” work with AC-coupled PV?
Assuming not, the only other way I could think of was leveraging Node Red and dynamically increasing/decreasing the DVCC Max Charge Current, based on real-time PV production. Though there are some nuances which the ESS assistant handles, which may be time consuming to properly implement in Node Red.
This is more of a brainstorm to think of a “Plan B” if I’m unable to leverage the ESS assistant. Let’s ignore the fact that practically, we could install the ESS assistant and configure the grid code as “Other”
Thank you!
