Replacing Dimensions inverter/charger with Multiplus2 2x on Motorhome

What Victron products are needed to replace the Dimensions inverter charger on my 2005 Winnebago Vectra Motorhome, it has a 7500 watt generator, and 50 amp shore, i am also installing a 400ah lithium battery, it also has a very small solar panel.

I want to be able to if possible use a bluetooth monitor/switch panel if not then hardwired.

thanks in advance

Probably the Multiplus II 2x120. It’s specifically made for 50 amp RV’s. The downside is that it’s rated for only 2400 watts. Alternatively, you could put in two Multiplus (not the 2x120). If you can live with the 2400 watt limitation, the 2x120 is a lot easier to install.

For the solar, you could use the existing solar charge controller if it can be set to a LiFePO₄ charge profile. Otherwise, you’ll want one of the smaller Victron solar charge controllers such as the 100/20 or 100/15.

With a Cerbo GX device you can control the inverter using either a Touch 50 screen or a compatible screen of your own choice. When I have Internet access I use a simple Android tablet to monitor and make changes to my system. Victron also makes a hardwired panel for the inverter which allows you to change some settings. It’s the Digital Multi Control Panel.

The MK3-USB device is what I use to make low level changes to my inverter and do programming of the built-in relays.

thanks for the reply Jim,

Will the touch 50 connect to the cerbo gx wirelessly without internet by bluetooth or a wifi created by the cerbo gx?

How about the alternator do i need a dc/dc module?

I imagine the Dimensions uses 1 120v leg and bypasses the other, if so that should be an easy rewire

The Touch 50 is a wired-only connection.

I highly recommend using a DC-DC charger for the alternator.

which dc/dc charger for a 160 amp alternator?

I would use the Victron Orion XS 12-12/50. It will allow you to charge at up to 50 amps or a lower current that you specify.

With having lead acid chassis batteries where in line does the charger go? Thanks Jim

The charger should be placed as close to the battery being charged, within reason.

if the wattage of the 3000va inverter is 2400w, is a 500a smart shunt big enough with a 400ah battery? I see the max wattage of the multiplus 2 is 5500w,

Yes that will be fine

when installing the victron Orion XS, do i simply connect it to house and chassis batteries and set the trigger voltage at 13.1?

Is it ok to leave the charging system on the motorhome connected and run parallel to the dc/dc?

Yes, connect the Orion XS between the starter and house battery banks. Your “trigger” voltage is whatever works for your system. Don’t assume that this is a one-time setting. Make the change and then monitor what’s going on. I had to change mine a couple of times.

I don’t understand what you’re asking in your second sentence.

Second sentence was regarding having both the alternator and dc/dc charger charging simultaneously… Since posting this, I disabled the boost/charge solenoid and bridged the dc/dc charger across this solenoid
