Quatro 10kVA to replace Multiplus II 5kVA

Hi folks,

I have at present a Multiplus II 48/5000, 3x US5000, 2x MPPT 150/35, 1x MPPT 100/20 running ESS, and a grid-tied 5kW PV system. I’m finding in winter the 48/5000 a little weak, so I’m considering an upgrade to a 8kVA or 10kVA inverter.

However, I also have a generator, and next year long blackouts due to grid upgrades in the area. So, I’m considering going for a Quatro so I have two mains inputs.

What advantages/disadvantages are there replacing a Multiplus II with a Quatro? Is everything going to work the same, but I’ll have an extra mains input?

Note: this system was DIY built, so I have no dealer/installer to fall back on.

I won’t attempt to answer all questions but yes, everything should work the same except you will have 2 ac inputs and higher capacity.

But first check the documentation if:

  • The batteries you have are enough to support the larger system
  • The Quattro is certified to interact with the grid in your area.
