Poor solar production

Hello,

I’ve two solar panel in series of 300w. These panels are Q Peak-G4.1. They are mount on a 12,5° angle directed on south.

I have a 320Ah AGM battery and a BMV600S to monitor, charger is a VictronConnect MPPT 100/50.

I recently add a Bluetooth dongle to the charger and I see a poor production of max 275w.

What can explain that ?

It seems that the Pmax on the VictroConnecte app is not the maximum power delivered by the MPPT controller but the “converted power”. I assume by concerted the charging power or the load power, and not really the power emitted by the panel.

How can I see the real panel production at t instant ?

Those should roughly be the same. Of course PV input power will be a bit higher than output power, since in the MPPT theres also a conversion loss, but thats a few percent. For example, at the moment i get 459W PV input and 441W output to batteries, so 18W or 4% of loss.

Are those 300W of yours total or per panel?

You are really using those batteries, theres multiple 9V or 10V minimal battery voltage registered.

Chinesium PV panels. The elcheapo ones I have are “425W” but if you dig in to the spec sheets that 425W is under certain almost-unachievable conditions, and the panels are actually 325W when tested to ‘normal’ working conditions. Only on the very brightest days when the sun has just popped out from behind a cloud do the panels hit anywhere near 425W.

Are you in a hot climate? Panel performance decreases when the temperature rises.

Given the high proportion of time the battery spends in ‘float’ stage, the panels are charging the battery full before reaching peak power.

The modules won’t produce 600W if there is nowhere for the energy to go. Once the battery is full, the MPPT throttles back, and reduces the power taken from the modules. Thus you won’t see full power unless the battery is still sufficiently discharged to accept full charge rate at mid day +/- 1Hour, when solar irradiation is highest.
