To make a long story short: I received a Phoenix 1200VA 48V inverter that made audible noise when a load greater than 300W is connected to it. We took for granted that it was something wrong with the inverter and received a new inverter. However, it’s making the exact same noise.
Both videos are in Swedish but you will be able to hear the inverter noise.
To clarify video number 1. I’m showing that my garage lights make an audible noise when connected to the Victron inverter, but it does NOT make a noise in Allpowers, Ecoflow or the Bluetti system. I also mention that I have tested an all-in-one inverter from MPPSolar that do not make any noise.
Which noise you believe it’s not normal?
I am hearing a 50Hz hum from the internal transformer, combined with a fan noise.
Both normal up to a point, considering that the bigger the load, the bigger the noise.
The other inverters may have different topology, ie. high frequency type, and therefore more efficient and without hum.
Well, I suppose I expected more from Victron… The inverter is more than $400 and as mentioned, I’ve used a dozen other both cheaper and more expensive inverters and they do not make an audible hum like that.
