On-grid to off-grid switch with Multiplus-II and Fronius

Hello,

is it possible to switch between these two configurations with Multiplus-II 5KVA and Fronius Primo 6K ?

Reasons for these is to optimize for both situations:
while grid is available, Fronius can inject the extra power directly
while grid is down, Fronius can still charge the battery.

Thank you,
George

There is no need to do it like this, just connect the fronius on ac out 1 and it will do what you want automatic

Only one thing, the fronius max output power can not be more than the multiplus inverter power (1:0 rule)

The 1:1 rule is one of the reasons, the Fronius primo 6k has 8kw of panels and would like to keep it like this.
The idea was that the switch from on-grid to off-grid ( Fronius switched from AC-IN to AC-OUT ) will restart the Fronius and avoid the 1:1 rule.
Not sure if this is true, thus the question.

The 1:1 rule is for when you are off-grid. When on-grid if a big load suddenly disconnects the solar will take a while to ramp down output, during this period it can flow to the grid/ batteries. When off-grid during the period of ramp down that flows to the battery only, therefore the reason for the 1:1 rule. You could add a MPPT to reduce the AC coupled solar capacity, I assume in the Fronius you can set max output?

Simon…

yes, Fronius with smart meter can set the max export (power passing through smart meter) to grid or to Victron AC-OUT.
Problem is that this is a setting in the menu, can’t do this with a switch fast.

Than you can not connect it to ac out of the multiplus, its too big,

and your idea can not work either for the same reason

As simon wrote, if you would connect a part of your solar to an mppt to lower the fronius pv output then it is possible, 1:0 rule is also not for mppt’s
