Neutral and Load crossing

So I was looking at my connections on my Quattro 12/5000 230v
And I noticed that the connections of the neutral and Load are crossed. The installer connected the Blue to load and brown to neutral. My 230v Breaker panels are all blue to neutral and brown to load. Everything is working fine but thought this was odd. Any reason why the victron installer would install it this way? And is this the correct way?

AC Input(s) from Shore connection or AC Output(s) ?
Blue should always be neutral for consistency.
Check the other end of the cable to see if that also has flipped colors.

  1. Tired. Made a mistake
  2. Flipped it on the other side. As suggested.
  3. Checking to see if Client notices or will comment? (Speculation- i do know an installer used to do this to see if his client look and would fiddle)

Either way it should stick to norms it is not safe otherwise for follow on electrical work.

Yes the AC input and output but the panel is connected correctly

So basically just flip it to blue neutral and brown load? Do i have to change any settings?

No settings need to be changed.

Do check this though.

So the panel side was correct but the inverter side wasn’t so swapped it back and now everything is correct. My question is how was the inverter still working? Shouldn’t it have shut down or burned out?

Short answer is it doesn’t matter until it matters.

Basically safety devices do not work correctly if they are wired incorrectly.

For example neutral/earth bond when inverting. And live voltage will end up where it should not be.

The inverter itself could be fine untill there is an issue that needs the protections to activate.
In marine the two being flipped have other effects too like an overload shutdown when connecting to grid.

It really depends and how they are crossed the what behaviour it would trigger. The MP2 Wil definitely say no and don’t be stupid

Do you use the ground relay?
if yes, it was bonding ground to hot instead of neutral.

Yes I believe he is using the ground relay.
Should I be using it?

Well I’m just glad I caught that now and not somewhere in the middle of the ocean
