I have a complete Victron system on my boat which has been running so far on lead-acid batteries. Soon these will be replaced by Victron Lithium NG combined with a VE.Bus BMS NG. From the manuals I understand that DVCC will have to be enabled, so the Cerbo will control the charge current of the MPPT and Multiplus. But I also have an Assistant in the Multiplus which allows me to disable the charger with an external switch, connected to the aux.2 port, so that only the solar panels can charge the batteries while on shore power (Multiplus pass-through mode).
My question is : will the Assistant be overruled by DVCC ? In other words, will DVCC enable the charger even when the external switch tells the Multiplus to disable it ?
All input is very welcome - thanks in advance.
No, it is not likely since it is a manual overide of the internal charger.
DVCC doesn’t work like that anyway.
The battery can request what it likes and the system will dial back to what is requested but it cant nake current come from somewhere where it can’t come from.
