I have a multiplus 2 gx 48v3000 on my narrow boat, we have 6 solar panels and we have a Hyundai generator for days with no sun, recently we got a message on the panel saying “alarm high temperature” the power went off for a couple of minutes and then it comes back on, yesterday it went off and now it won’t come back on at all, it’s still charging the battery from solar but not supplying 240 mains, normally the panel shows “boat invert” now it shows “boat off” I’m not a techi at all and I need some help please.![]()
How do you manage the MP 2, do you have a Cerbo GX or Venus, do you have the Mk3-USB to connect to the MP from a laptop? All these can help diagnose the problem.
Silly, but have you completely disconnected the MP from all power sources for a few minutes, and then reconnected them, i.e. a full restart?
Sorry I notice you have a MP GX, I have Cerbos/RPIs so they stay running if I power down my kit. Can youi access the Cerbo functions?
If so check what is showing under Settings > Devices > Multiplus > State, and Alarm Status, should give you a clue.
Is the MP in a cupboard, what is the temperature around the MP? My Quattro on my boat can run a bit warm in summer.
Like I said I’m not a techi so I must apologize straight away, numerous people on the moorings have given advice and I have turned off all power to the unit and turned back on after a few minutes and still off, I have tried a reboot through the app and still no joy, the only part of your advice I understood was power down, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing and I’m wondering if there is anyone near Little bollington on the Bridgewater canal who could help, is the temperature sensor buggered and can it be reset or replaced, or is the problem something else..
Hi in what position is the powerswitch on the bottom of the multiplus, it has 3 positions
Charger only, off and on (inverter/charger), it should be in inverter/charger position
The power switch is under the unit it’s marked 1/0/2 it only powers up in position 1, 0 is off and 2 does nothing, as far as I can remember it’s always been pos 1..
If you are not comfortable with electrics I suggest you try to get a sparky to do some basic checks.
If you are comfortable with using a multimeter there are some checks you can do.
-
Check the AC voltage across the input terminals, if on shore power, or generator, you should have 220-240V AC present. If not check any fuses/circuit breakers in the supplies.
-
Check you have 48-52v DC at the DC terminals, if not again check any fuses / circuit breakers between the MP and the Battery. If all looks OK, and there is no voltage the battery’s BMS may have tripped. The MP will not switch on if it does not have a working battery connected. The battery state should also show up in the GUI2, attached is a copy of the one on my boat, you should see something similar.
