I have a MPPT 150 / 60 which is connected to a PV string that has a higher output than the MPPT can handle. The MPPT is managed by the BMS of my Pylontech batteries.
The reason for having the PV string on a higher output is that I need to harvest as much energy as I can during the winter period.
No all over sudden, during the last couple of days I see in Victron Connect that the PV output is much higher than what the MPPT is supposed to deliver.
Normally one would expect that the max. output would be in the order of 52 Volts x 60 Amps = 3120 Watt, however I feel numbers up to 4500 Watt, which would equal a current of 96 Amps.
I seems to me that is not normal behavior, so I am suspicious of what might happen in the future…
Is this MPPT about to fail?
Any ideas of what’s going on here?
PS : I am running this configuration for 8 years now, without having this issue.
