Hi,
I want to use the 450/100 for 3S Tongwei TWMPF-66HD660W Southeast on the first tracker and 6S Trina TSM-NEG21C.20 Southwest on the second tracker. Mounted on a balcony 90 degrees angle.
The 3S Tongwei sometimes might have a voltage lower than 120V. Will that work too or is it not recommend? According to the planning excel 4.0. it is ok. I could not find any information about this.
Thanks FloBB
The MPPT units only require that the PV voltage must be 5V higher then the battery (at start).
Once connected this can go down to 1V
This is not the case for the 450V MPPT RS controllers, they have a start up voltage of 120V then a minimum operating voltage of 65V.
OK, thx for the information.
In this case they should preferably only be sold to certified installers, 120V DC is deadly, much more so then 240AC.

With what I have seen on my 450/100s i would say you might have problems, the lowest voltage on my strings is 270v so if i was you i would either add more panels to get the voltage higher or look at a different MPPT.
I read somewhere that the Multiplus RS inofficially starts at 90v. @guystewart Maybe you could help with that question?
Thanks
FloBB
The start up voltage is specified in the data sheet - https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-SmartSolar-MPPT-RS-EN.pdf
I would design around that.
Thanks so much for your reply @guystewart . The only Information I could not find in the document is the following: Is the startup voltage relevant for each tracker separately or is it enough when it is high enough at one tracker to get the other one to work?
Thanks,
Florian
The trackers are isolated so each tracker will have to get to 120v before starting.
