MPPT 250 | 100 shorted out during charging

I have a Multiplus 12/3000/120 and a SmartSolar MPPT 250/100 connected to a 628 ah 12v LFP battery. The system operated properly for many months, until this fall when I used the Multiplus to charge the battery instead of the MPPT (solar panels were isolated via an IMO disconnect). Shortly before the battery reached fully charged, the MPPT internally short-circuited and blew its 125A class T fuse. After that the MPPT was completely dead. The Victron dealer replaced it under warranty. However, I’d like to prevent it from happening again and I’m wondering if I need to take any special precautions . For example, do I need to set the Multiplus charge voltage lower than the MPPT charge voltage?

They should both be set for the correct chemistry and the same voltages for charge ideally.

How else is the system programmed?

Its an interesting faliure if the panels were disconnected at the time. Possibly the batteries disconnected under heavy charge and there was a power overshoot from the battery side?
