MPPT 250/100 Rotary switch - which number for lead acid?

Can anyone please tell me which switch position is needed on the MPPT250/100 for charging 12 V lead acid batteries?

Best regards

I was typing my answer and suddenly realised that the manual explains this better than I ever could. Good luck!

Read the manual? What witchcraft is this!

Many thanks to you both for your input.

Just for clarity, I actually did read the manual and it was the rubric 5.1.2 that lead me to seeking assistance via the community forum.

Unless I’m overlooking something, none of the switch positions in the table list lead-acid as a suggested battery type.

I understand that I can make a custom battery type in 5.2.1 however given my ā€˜beginner’ status, I thought it prudent to utilise a position preset.

You asked for ā€œlead acid batteriesā€ā€¦
All batteries on the manual at 5.1.2 are lead acid batteries, less last position (7) which is for LiFePo4, obviously.

Depending on the type - gel, flooded, tubular or normal plates, etc., they have different (recommended) voltages.
If you look closely, for example at position 4, 5 and 6, they are for the same battery type, only with voltages that are slightly increasing.
The same with 1 and 2. That because for different situations, different voltages…
Remember, on the UPS gel batteries it’s written/recommended two sets of voltages: for cyclic or storage situations. For the same battery…

Maybe an additional question like ā€œwhich type of lead acid batteries?ā€ was in order…

Or use the preset that it’s close with the voltages recommended for your battery by its manufacturer, or, just like you’ve already discovered, maybe it’s better to define a preset of your own.

Many thanks for your help; the batteries in question are 12 V flooded lead-acid batteries.

Best regards

Normally 14,4V fits for most lead batteries.
If you want it better than you need to look at the datasheet of your battery.
