Motorhome upgrade with Victron MPPT

Hi all.
I want to update my MPPT controller in my 2011 Swift Moho. Currently it has NDS sc320m suncontrolller fitted. I don’t think it’s doing as it should. I want to fit a Victron 100/20. Can this do the leisure battery and starter battery ?

Hello,
Making the comparaison between the devices show similar characteristics but the fact that the Victron can only handle 1 battery not 2 at the same time.

So it looks like you can replace it by a Victron smart solar MPPT 100/20 but you will need to add a charge repartition device as the Victron Cyrix.

You can replace the multi/quatro… by the MPPT charger in the picture…

Hello Xabi or anyone that can help.

I’m doing the same as Willie but I’m installing the Victron 100/30. My trailer has a converter (WFCO WF-8955-AD) in which the tow vehicle battery (7 pin), shore power and generator will go thru before it gets to the battery. With that said, do I still need the Cyrix? I did see a video mentioning the use of a battery isolator but I’m wondering if these suggestions come from the assumption that there is no converter.

My other question about upgrading to the Victron 100/30 is if I need to switch from parallel to series with my panels. I have two Go Power 100W panels in parallel. They are nominal 12V panels and the Vmp is 17.5V and Voc is 21V. The Victron manual says “The nominal PV voltage should be at least 5V higher than the battery voltage”. With that said, I believe I’m ok in parallel but I’m hoping to get confirmation on this.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Robert

Hello Robby,

I have had the same refelxion about my trailler (horse trailer) and how could I setup and link it with my van.

But first, with the experience on solar panel small setup, I will prioritize the voltage than the Amp. The 100/30 is able to get 100V DC input PV voltage, so no problem. After we can argu on // or serial setup…

Then, for the connection the the Pin 7 of the tow vehicle battery,
So the 100/30 will maintain the Trailer battery placed in WFCO WF-8955-AD, who will (re)charge the tow vehicle battery thu is own circuit. So in fact it look like OK !

Of course if I’m not wrong in the installation setup.
