Modbus communication with Comap G2 IG500 controllers

I need to get communication working between an Ekrano GX and a generator with a Comap G2 IG500 controller. The Modbus register for the Comap IL4 controllers doesn’t work for this controller. Is there a way to get it to work? We’ve got basic start stop working but need to see ECU data to monitor fuel usage in VRM.

Hey @JeffW, unfortunately, the ComAp IG500 G2 is currently not supported.

Hi. Yeah, I know it isn’t currently supported but I was hoping they might be able to get it added to the list of supported units. Is there a way to contact Victron direct to get support. The website doesn’t have any contact links and just points to your Victron distributor for support. Unfortunately Our supplier hasn’t been any help with this, but I have no way of knowing if they have been on to Victron or just fobbing me off, or if they even understand my request.

Hi @JeffW, you’re already talking to the right guy :slightly_smiling_face: And I can tell you, that we’re not currently planning to add more ComAp controllers to our list of integrated devices.

But there’s another way, which we are currently working on: Soon, you can create “Virtual Generators” via Node-RED and feed them from custom data sources, e.g. via a Node-RED Modbus extension. Maybe this is worth a look for you, Node-RED via our Venus OS Large image is a very powerful tool!

Hi Philip

Thanks for the reply. That sounds very promising, I will look forward to giving it a try when the feature is available.
