Lost solar production

Hey all just wondered, I can see on the app how much my system has produced in the history but is this what I’ve used between batts & appliances or what I’ve used and lost? Im just wondering how I can find out how much I’m loosing because of small battery storage ? Thx

If by “lost” you mean PV energy that you could have generated if you had somewhere to store it, no, there is no way to measure that.

The power generated by the MPPT has to either be consumed directly by DC loads, stroed into a battery, or consumed by an inverter which has AC loads or can feedback to the grid (if applicable). Any PV power not harvested due to throttling of the MPPT to a non-maximum power point cannot be measured. But you can guess what it would have been based on VRM plots of the PV power just before throttling occurs.

There is an MPPT field called MPPT Operational Mode, which can be Off, Active, or Limited which can tell you when the MPPTs are limiting their output. it is unfortunately not directly available in VRM, but might be in the downloaded files. Definitely available on MODbus.

As far as I know there is a device in development to measure the solar irradiance.
Theoretically with that (and the known installed kWp) it should be possible to calculate the unused power.

In the new VictronConnect version 6.15 they added the initial support for the “SolarSense”.

Maybe we get some more info at the Intersolar in a month.

Yeah I saw this in the charts section in VRM but no info thx anyway

Until that happens, the best you can do is a small solar panel, loaded with a high power resistor (greater than the panels rating) with a potential divider if required, attached to the analogue input of a cerbo. You the need a custom script to integrate the dc output from the small panel. The resistor value has to be low enough that the panel does not reach its maximum voltage even with full illumination. typically you would want a 2W panel, 5W resistor, arranged for a 0-4V output.

LOL way above my pay grade I will wait till its working on vrm :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
