Limit charge current in network without GX?

Hi there,

I’ve got a Victron network in my camper with:

2x MPPT 100/50
1x Orion XS
1x Smart Shunt

So the total possible charging current is 150A.

I have a temporary battery that can only be charged with 30A, so I wondered if its possible to limit the global charging current.
However, it seems as if this is only possible on a per device setting - this doesn’t make sense though. I would have to set 15+15 for the Mppts when standing, and 30 for the Orion when driving. Switching constantly.

Is it true that this only works via a GX unit (which I don’t need for anything else)?

Thank you!

Or maybe a GX device is needed for global charger control?
Are the charge controllers SmartSolar models?
If so, it would be possible to interconnect the devices by VE.Smart Network. The SmartShunt should then be able to share battery voltage (vSense) and current data (iSense) with the chargers. With that data, it should be possible to support some forms of synchronized charging between the devices.

Yes, they are smart and they are in the same network.
But I don’t see an option to set a global charging current, hence my question.

Does anyone know more about this?

As per the documentation.
"Each unit will (and should) regulate its own output current. Which, among others, depends on the output of each PV array, cable resistance and the configured maximum output current of the charger. As such, it is not possible to configure a ‘network-wide’ maximum charge current. In case such feature is needed, for example in a system with both an East- and a West-facing PV array and relatively small battery bank, consider using a GX Device and its DVCC features.
