I have a Cerbo GX connected to a Phoenix 12/3000 via VE.direct. It is displayed as Inverter / Charger, which is not a big deal. But when the inverter is on, my DC loads go up by about 70W and the animation shows current “flowing” from the inverter into the battery. But the BMS does not show any significant changes in the discharge rate, so this mysterious “virtual” current shows up only as DC load.
The attached image shows the situation: The battery is discharged by 90W, but the DC loads show 158W. There are no active charging sources in the system. Does anyone have a similar experience and is there a way to “recalibrate” the inverter so it shows up correctly in the system?
DC load is just a calculated value. It is inaccurate at low power levels and affected by timing differences of metrics.
This has been a topic many times before.
If you need accuracy you will have to add shunts for DC loads.
No conclusions can be drawn from such a low value.
I dug a bit deeper and it seems like the inverter is having a slightly miscallibrated output reading. It shows -0.3A output in its menu which corresponds to the (virtual) ~70 Watts I see going into the battery. I wonder if there is any way to calibrate the AC reading of the inverter to 0. Or at least set it as an inverter instead of inverter/charger in the system so that any negative outputs of the inverter simply get ignored?
The phoenix is an inverter, it can’t do anything other than invert. That will be its state if its on.
The UI is also designed around a vebus inverter charger, not a vedirect inverter only, it isn’t going to behave as someone might want it to.
