Generic temperature sensor for Cerbo FX

I’m new here and would like to know whether a generic temperature sensor can work with the Cerbo GX. I’ve tried connecting a few generic sensors, but the Cerbo shows them as short-circuited. Does anyone have suggestions or advice? My goal is to measure temperatures in the range of -40 °C to 100 °C for a device.

The Victron supplied sensors are open collector current source. They are included at each Multiplus and I dont use them there. The connection method has several advantages and allows extension of cable length without affecting accuracy. Here is a explanation video of our friend Johannes Boonstra.

You can not just plug random temperature sensors into the Cerbo, there are many different types. Either buy the correct Victron one, or if you are competent at DIY electronics, the Cerbo sensor is based on an LM335Z. See the old comunity topic below.
