Hello,
Hoping for some fresh ideas to try to fix an ongoing issue.
The system is fully off-grid dual 10kW Quattros, set up as 120/240 for US. We have an 80kWh Midnite Wall Mount battery operating in closed loop. The generator is a propane, Kohler 24 RCLA machine, its a nice 1800 rpm, liquid cooled unit that runs very well.
We have a persistent issue when battery charging with the quattros. When charging, the charger seems to oscillate the generator, the rpms go up and down, when I disable the charger, the issue goes away. I have played with the charge rate, AC input current limits and it seems to be a bad interaction between the quattros chargers and the Kohler generator. I have reprogrammed the governor control loop in the generator with slower and faster time response but it doesn’t seem to help. I have disabled and enabled power assist and weak AC but I can’t see a perceptible difference. It’s as though the charger backs off so quickly that the governor doesn’t have time to stabilize with the added load, then when it does, it seems to overshoot a little and in the meantime the quattros have backed off.
Any ideas on other things I can try?
