Has anyone tried to use the gen start feature on raspberry pi venus os but use radio frequency to transmit the signal?
Like zigbee?
I have my batteries and pi in the cottage. I have my gen 100 feet away in a shed. I’d like to use pin 40 with a RF transmitter to sent a signal to a receiver in the shed to trigger a relay which will start the gen. Something like:
I did get some things working with a Sonoff RF Bridge and node-red with tasmoto. I found that shelly and wifi worked better so I gave up.
I think that initially you would need the relay driver output for the Pi, then use that to control your RF transmitter. The receiver should be able to power a relay to start the gen.
If your gen does not have a 2 wire remote start the life gets a lot more complicated.
I have a current project to use a pi pico to control the starting of a petrol generator from a 2 wire signal.
