We are currently using the WSD feature of the Fronius Gen 24 Primo and installing a contactor driven by the generator output to prevent reverse current flow to the generator in an AC Coupled Off Grid system.(MPII, GX, BYD)
Would this be considered best practice or is there a better way?
We have a new install now with the Fronius 100m away so wsd not an option.
Can we use the MPii relay and assistants to start and stop genny based on SOC but prevent reverse power to generator?
I’m seeing quite a few threads on Reverse Power prevention with crickets from the VN team.
Using a relay assistant that switches based on the AC input being active works reliably even with a dead GX device, but yeah, the distance in your case is a problem.
If you use the trick suggested by @lxonline you, it should be good too - you will already have PV assistant and microgrid settings, etc on your Fronius. Be aware that generator runs will involve a long period of higher frequency AC, so good luck with mains-synchronised time sources (oven clocks etc)
