I have Fronius datamanager and inverter firmware on primo 6.0-1 and quattro firmware on Quattro 48/10000/140-2x100 from 2020. Is there a firmware compatibility matrix and a preference for order of update?
The short answer is there is no compatibility matrix or preference for update order. It depends on what you are trying to achieve with the system. From experience I update the Victron inverter first then the Primo. There is often no need to update the Primo unless a specific issue is encountered.
The Primo infrequently shuts down with a 4xx error and needs to be manually restarted. Unfortunately it doesn’t save the previous firmware version unlike the Color GX. So I would like to get a copy of both Primo and Quattro configurations as backup if I do the update. I have done a firmware update for another Primo without issue but there was no Victron involved.
The Primo firmware version is visible in the settings menu. You can ask Fronius for a back up copy. Current and historic Quattro firmware versions are available on Victron Professional.
