Hi. I have a brand new RS 48 6000 and when configuring it via the android version of the VE Connect app over bluetooth a firmware update was recommended. I accepted and hit "ok " to update the firmware. The process ran uninterrupted up to 22% completion and then hung. I don’t know the cause of this because as instructed I didn’t take any calls (no calls were received fortunately) and didn’t with anything on or off. Maybe the internet connection dropped out.
In any case my current firmware version is now 0 and perhaps because of this I cannot perform any firmware update or any other operations on the APP.
So the question is how can I re-install the firmware on this device without using the app?

Try connecting using a different android or iOS device and see if you can get the update to work from that.
I have had this a couple of times updating an IP22 charger, but once updated with a different phone, the original then worked fine again. Strange one, but easily sorted
This didn’t work. The inverter seems to be locked up with an ‘update active’ screen. I have cut all power to it for a couple of days and when powered back up I get the same message. I just ordered an EASUN 6.2KW inverter for a fifth of the cost of the Victron. Hopefully this will just be used as a backup and someone in Victron will have me up and running before it arrives. Hope springs eternal!
Do you have a GX device connected on CAN with the RS?
If yes, you can try to use the CAN utilities from the /etc/bin folder to force a firmware update.
Thanks for the replies. So now I have 4 possible options to fix this problem:
(i) Green-Future (the seller) suggested I update the firmware via an MK3 dongle.
(ii) Alex suggested I update via the Cerbo GX using CAN utilities
(iii) Karl Heinz suggested a factory rest via bluetooth or software.
(iv) Clark suggested a firmware update using software downloaded from
profession tools. Clark however deferred to Karl Heinz’s proposal as a
better option
I just tried option 1 and that failed as the VE connect/configure software did not recognize any devices connected via the MK3 dongle. I await Green-Future’s advice; they being the seller and hopefully getting advice direct from Victron. Thanks again.
Thanks Matthias. I share you concerns. I felt compelled to try the option suggested by the seller of the inverter who were presumably being advised by Victron. Now we could argue about whether or not Victron would ever offer such advise..let’s not burn energy on that! I doubt it but one has to do the seller the courtesy of trying out what they recommend as they are ultimately liable for selling me a product that doesn’t work. Which one of the 3 remaining options above would you recommend? Thanks.
Oh well my new inverter came. Its been about a month struggling to get the Victron unit going. I will not give up on my RS6000 because it cost me a lot of money but at least I can get back off-grid with this Easun inverter.
Have you tried telling your supplier to take the RS back and do the update/repair for you?
If the firmware version is now 0 then something has gone massively wrong. And not likely end user recoverable.
Requires the system to be switched on connected to the GX and online. In any case your first port of call is installer, supplier, then distribution/warranty centre.
Thanks for your suggestions. Yes I have sent a letter of complaint to Green-Future in Austria who sold me the unit. I saw someone else on the blog who had the same problem and had their unit exchanged so I am waiting for that to be hopefully proposed by Green Future. I haven’t installed the EASUN yet because it takes a lot of time and attention wiring up these systems and I want to be sure there’s no hope from the Victron route (my support to date from Victron/Green Future would suggest this is the case) before decommissioning the new RS6000 unit and installing the Easun.
