Hey Folks!
There is a small issue with the Consumption Forecast feature in VRM. Here is the situation
- I have NS EV charger
- I have ± same consumption every day on same time.
Actual Result
Currently VRM forecast consumption (looks like) based on current consumption in the current point in time. When I did not charge car 1-2 days, the forecast looked correct. Here is a consumption from yesterday:
As soon as I start using EV charger it starts to provide a MUCH higher forecast than it’s supposed to be, look today:
So VR thinks that I will keep the same consumption till the end of the day, but that is not correct, as I charge my car only from available solar, and if it ends than charger goes to Manual mode (using Node Red)
Idea how it may work
2 Ideas:
- I think in the charger station we missed an important feature - the ability to know car SOC. I think this info is provided by the car as I can see when charging at public charging stations inside their app. If NS can know the SOC then you can project how long it will take to charge the car. Based on this you can project consumption
- Maybe you can just extrapolate previous days hour-by-hour consumptions to the future days. It will forecast much smoother
Looking forward for your feedback
