False low voltage shut down, Victron phoenix 24/1200 inverter

After several years of working without problems I have run into an issue with my inverter that I can’t figure out. Does anyone has a clue on what to do?

Recently the inverter signals low voltage and shut down as soon as I connect anything to it. My charge controller and my BMV-700 monitor both says everything is fine and shows voltage of > 27v and full battery. It seems as when the charger actually is putting energy into the battery everything works fine and the inverter runs ok, but when the charge controller thinks the batteries are full and stop adding energy the inverter immediately shuts down. The voltage in monitor and controller does not drop. My battery setup consist of 6 12v AGM connected in pairs. Oh and I don’t have the USB dongle/Bluetooth thing to check/change the settings in the inverter. What could be wrong??

Check the battery connection, disconnect switch, fuses, cables.

Do you have a battery balancer?

Check the individual battery voltages to see if the batteries are out of balance. You might want to disconnect all batteries and test them individually, and then charge them individually. I recently had a problem where one battery in a pair went bad faster than the others, and this caused currents to be higher on the good batteries.
If you have a DC Clamp Ammeter, check the currents on each battery lead. The 3 pairs should have the same currents.

If the batteries are more than 5 years old, then they made need to be replaced. I’ve had good luck with AGMs. Some lasted 10 years. Test them.

Thanks, that would be my next step, thought I’ll ask in case there was some other thing that could be wrong. Yes I do have a Victron balancer and that does not signal any error either. Always tricky disconnecting batteries when living off-grid without backup for fridge etc, but I will sure give it a go.

Maybe something has worked its way loose, and just needs re-torquing to tighten it up again. Good luck!

You have no idea of how right you were :grin:! Started with the main negative connection (the one with the charge controller and the inverter) and it was not even tightened at all, totally loose!! I must have completely missed it when installing a few years back and within 10 minutes the whole problem went away!
