ESS with non Victron (SMA) components

Hi all,

I have become a big fan of Victron in no time. I set up an MPII and Cerbo GX-based system as secondary storage next to my SMA system with 3 Tripower Solar converters and an SBS50 High Voltage Storage system with my primary battery.

It is great that VenusOS can pick up the power data from the SMA devices out of the box! I also found a nice plugin to read my HomeManager2 at the interface to the grid. Everything is almost perfect. Only one issue is that the SBS is read as if it were a solar converter and not an AC-based battery. I don’t get its SOC. (I managed this in Node-RED via Modbus). This way, I have to program my ESS by myself, which also worked out fine.

I have one problem, though.

I need a good solar forecast to calculate the needed battery space for solar production above 60% peak. Your great feature for this goes crazy over time because it misinterprets the other battery as solar yield. Over time, it produces outrageous production prognoses because I still “produce” solar power when it is dark.

Could you learn to see this as a secondary battery? And then maybe also supply its SOC etc?

And maybe even display it in your beautiful overviews as a seperate entity? Right now, I only have two imperfect dashboards: yours with the SMA SBS input/output hidden in the solar converters and the dashboard from SMA showing their stuff correctly but not knowing anything about the Victron-based storage.

This last part is of secondary importance and maybe asking too much, but properly interpreting another battery would be so helpful!

Thanks in advance, Hannes
