Easysolar won't accept generator

Running an Easysolar II GX coupled to 6 solar panels and 48V x 250Ah battery bank off-grid. Solar charging works fine but during dark winter months the need for adding a generator to the system is obvious. I have a 4kW diesel generator, but the Easysolar is not willing to accept the feed. When AC in connected, it sounds like it connects (clicking sound from unit), and then 1-2 sec later a similar click and it shuts off.

I have read about the conficuration changes needed when adding a generator, but nothing I have tried seems to help. Below are the parameters from my current VEConfigure setup. Any ideas what to change or try next?

Have you tried a much lower input current limit?

Do you have a GX?

It looks like it is on really old firmware as well. Is annuodate an option or do you have one of the older models?
The newer firmware has had much work done in improvements for the generator.

Thanks for the tip LX, I lowered the input current limit to 3A and it charges now :+1:.

Generator has a max output of 4,8kW and continous 4,4kW, so I couldn’t think 12A was too high (230V * 12A = 2760W). But apparently I was wrong. Surprising to me, as I know the generator can deliver over 4kW when using powertools etc.

I guess next step will be to try a slightly higher current limit, and see what it can handle, in order to charge faster than with 3 amps limit.

Regarding firmware, where can you see its old? (unit is an Easysolar II GX 3000/48). The firmware on the unit itself was recently updated. The screenshots I added were from VE Configure 3, which also states it had the latest version. Are there some newer interfaces or versions available?
