@SlartyBart Not a full solution, but if that high pricing is always the case, you can already tell the system not to charge the battery from the grid between 16:00 and 23:30 (or any other time). This is a setting under the battery part of the Dynamic ESS settings.
If the system needs more power it will still buy from the grid for usage, but at least it doesn’t charge the battery from the grid during those set times.
Thank you for that, I’d missed that setting. Presumably the algorithm will therefore take this into account and make sure there’s enough in the battery to keep things going during the restricted charge time too. Perfect! I’ve implemented the new change and will switch it back on.
I upgraded the firmware to 3.50~22 today and the Menu Option for Dynamic ESS has disappeared from VRM too. Although I can still get to it by navigating to settings/dynamic-ess and it is showing as enabled in GUI-V2 - ESS settings on the Cerbo
I have a Sonoff App operated WiFi switch that operates a contactor to engage my immersion heater at desired times. As I also have a PV diverter that automatically sends excess PV power to my immersion I only use the WiFi switch when prices are very low. At the present time I manually update the App to configure the on/off times.
It would be great if the DESS could be configured to operate the Multiplus NO relay when prices go below a set level. The MP relay could then be used to automatically operate the contactor.
For some, yet unknown, reason the system wasn’t reporting the Dynamic ESS available to VRM. I did restart the vrmlogger on your system, after which it started reporting. You may de-activate that remote access again.
And I also now see the ability to set the (dis)charge restrictions. in your Dynamic ESS settings.
Btw a campervan is a bit of an unexpected place to see Dynamic ESS being used. I suppose it makes sense as long as its parked on a fixed location.
