Multiplus II
Victron Smartshunt.
Cerbo.
ESS (soon dynamic ESS)
I sometimes get extra energy on the DC site of my system from an external source.
The smartshunt knows about this because the external DC source it is connected after the shunt. The shunt adjusts the SOC taking into account all the energy from battery and external.
Cerbo shows this as an external source in the graphic.
No problems there.
Now i wand to use a relay in the multi and make it switch on a certain SOC.
But when i select ‘SOC’ in the multi as the criterium it telles me that it is going to use the internal SOC of the multi. Witch could be way off because of the external source of DC that it cannot see.
In the cerbo the smartshunt is selected as the main SOC device for calculating SOC.
Question: does the cerbo/smartshunt sync the SOC to the Multi?
Does anyone know?
I have a smartshunt measuring my battery. It is my main SOC reference.
When the Multiplus is set to visite in VRM/Console, the Multiplus shows a different value than the Smartshunt (and indeed, my BMS as well shows something different).
In the console menu Settings / System setup / battery measurements
And there you have the various available battery measure sources.
In my setup I have the BMS, the MP2 and the Smartshunt. For the picture they were all set to « visible »
Thanks, but the ‘system status’ (Settings → System setup → System Status) is not visable here.
Am i blind or something?
Checked it several times, not there.

I don’t understand why i don’t have this option then. Its even in the manual.
Sorry, makes me angry. Looking for an option that everybody has… just not on my system.
I was concentrating on another thing and now i have to drop that and try to find out WTF is happening

Hi @Pieter
Don’t get excited about not having that Status page. I don’t see it either, maybe because of managed batteries. It’s irrelevant anyway for what you want.
SOC is one of those things you don’t get a choice with. Your system will choose the best. If you want to use SOC in Assistants it will use the system designated one (regardless of what’s determined in the Multi, but turn that off anyway to be certain).
Sure, it says it will use the Multi one, but that’s a relic from the past. (I complained ages ago, but it remains).
I’ve never seen this properly documented. Just try it…
Hee, thanks man.
Never thought that maybe the warning in the assistant in the MP could be wrong
Just never ocured to me. Maybe because it is victron and not some china brand…
I will test this then. Get the batteries low and then srart charging with the MP while adding DC power from another source. After that i should be able to see if there is a difference between the smartshunt soc and the MP soc.
If they are the same i will disable it in the MP.
Thanks
