I connected up my NEeY balancer, but not sure if i should balance the cells or leave them as they are. Last time i tried balancing, i upset the bms and the whole system blacked out. Please see my scree shot, is this acceptable?
You can’t draw a conclusion at such voltage(s) as the cells are in the flat area of the voltage curve.
Bring them to over 3.45V and you’ll see there the reality.
In the flat area of the voltage curve (15-90% SOC), you won’t see too much differences between cells.
But on the final end of SOC curve (90-100%), when the slope is quite steep, the differences begin to be noticed and you can really see which cells are out of balance.
This is why the balance is optimally taking place at the end of the charging process and this is why I’ve kept insisting on charging to 100% as often as possible and allow the balance to take place.
See below.
Thats brilliant advice, im still very new at all this and wasnt aware of this, so thank you. I will fully charge the battery now.
