DESS seems to schedule charge too early

Hi there,

We have a simple peak / off-peak pricing scheme with our utility, and noticed what appears to be potentially non-optimal charge behavior from DESS.

If the system calculates insufficient solar / battery for the following day, it schedules a partial charge (1) immediately after the current day’s peak period, and (2) immediately before the following day’s peak period. Seems fine at first glance.

However, I would think it would be most optimal to schedule the entire charge immediately before the following day’s peak period — which reduces the error introduced by the projected consumption / projected PV production. The forecasts change quite often.

The system does seems smart and reduces the scheduled charge for the current day if the consumption ended up lower, or if PV production ended up higher (during the peak period) — pushing the entire charge to the next morning.

Though as mentioned, I would think it would make most sense to “push” the scheduled charge as late as possible? Though maybe the behavior I’m observing makes sense in more dynamic pricing schemes.
