DC-DC Charger when vehicle battery on trickle charge

I’m about to install a 30A DC-DC Charger, non-isolated, on my motorhome. I have a permanently wired maintenance trickle charger which keeps the vehicle battery topped up whenever the motorhome is connected to a 230v mains electric hookup.

Now the question…

Is it possible to configure the DC/DC charger within the device software settings to accommodate my configuration? I don’t want the DC-DC Charger to start charging the motorhome leisure battery whenever I plug the van in to electric hook-up.

If possible I would prefer to avoid wiring the DC-DC charger disable switch to the vehicle ignition as this just adds extra hassle if it can be avoided.

Linked to this I also have a 30A victron AC-DC charger which is on when connected to EHU. If there’s a way to link the two over the smart network and prevent the two chargers operating simultaneously then that may also offer a fix.

The Orion DC-DC will only charge while the engine is running if configured correctly. Usually the ignition switch is only used when the engine shutdown settings don’t work. Like when a smart alternator will charge too low to activate the Orion.

In my opinion the Orion XS 50Amp is a fantastic piece of gear if you can afford the price. Its quite an upgrade from the Orion 30Amp models.
