Class 5 Tri-Rated Cable in Canada

I cannot find a source for the wire specified in section 1.2.1 of the manual (pages 1& 2) the dealer uses RPVU90 which is a 19 strand wire. Would this be acceptable??

Hello! Did you find a solution! I’m also I’m Canada and facing the same problem. Was thinking about using 10 and 6 awg TEW Cable for high stranded option for my mppt 100-50 but all the distributives I called don’t have some and I online only found options to order full rolls. My victron distributif also said just use low stranded stuff but the the warning in the manuel about risks of fire make me un easy.

Vertex Marine makes excellent -and appropriate- wire, and they’re up in BC. Try looking for local distributors of Vertex Marine wire - your local marine electronics supply stores would be a good place to check, or just Google of course!

Decent halogen-free tinned copper cable with a seamless twin sheath for PV setups tends to be reel-only.
If we’re talking about that kind of cable

I ended up using the AWG 10 19 strand wire that my dealer provided. I was sure to tighten the connection firmly. I too was a bit uncomfortable with the solution given the warning.

I mean it’s not my business, but an authorized Victron dealer certainly shouldn’t be providing 19-strand wire for an application that calls for ~109-strand wire… I have no desire to call out your dealer here in a public forum, but you might drop a line to salesUSACanada@victronenergy.com just to let them know your dealer needs some additional training!

Editing to add: to be fair, I only count 103 strands in Ancor 10AWG, which would be about the same in Vertex wire… still quite a sight more than 19 though.
