Charging starter battery from LiFePO4 battery system while keeping Smart BMS 12/200

Hi everyone,

I have a setup question regarding my campervan’s battery system. Here’s my current configuration:

  • Main leisure battery: Smart LiFePO4 12.8V/200Ah with Smart BMS 12/200
  • The starter battery is connected to the BMS through the Alternator+ connector
  • This allows charging the leisure battery from the alternator

The issue: I’ve realized that I can’t charge my starter battery from the leisure battery because the Alternator+ connection on the BMS only allows one-way current flow (from alternator to leisure battery).

I’m looking for suggestions on the simplest way to enable bi-directional charging between the two batteries. Ideally, I’d like to find a solution that allows me to keep using the Smart BMS 12/200, rather than replacing it with different equipment.

Has anyone solved this issue in their setup? What additional components might I need?
