Charging LiFePo4 battery with internal BMS

Hi, I have one lfp battery 120Ah smart with built-in bms. I want to charge it from car alternator and solar panel. MPPT 75/15 and what will be the best to charge it from car alternator, cyrix-li or orion xs? Thanks for advice.

Also, smart battery protect to put?

Orion XS.

And the battery protect is design for unidirectional power (so either charge or dischage). It is usually used for loads to prevent over discharge. But most lifepo4 have built in prevention for that.

Orion XS is better than orion smart?

How to set up charge settings and how to detect when alternator is running?

How to wire remote on/offswitch?

The XS wither one allows you to tune what you are charging with. The difference is whether you are going 12/12 or 12/24 dual voltage.

It does all things you mention.

See the manual for your questions.

If you want to practice or look at how the settings work download victron connect and use demo mode.

Depends on the car!

My Skoda Yeti charges my LifePo4 battery in the caravan at 5 amps. That’s direct from the tow hitch no Orion or anything else in line. In the two years I have been doing it I have seen 3 over voltage shutdowns by the BMS and all of those were on journeys of over 250 miles so battery was fully charged. The fact that there is a LA car battery in parallel with the LifePo4 mitigates a lot of the “risk”

Not saying it will work for any car but in my case I tried it and saved the cost of a unit.

I got manual aswell but I need some feedback from who installed it and which settings they put, also how they wired remote
