Charging from a wind turbine with MPPT Charge Controller

My customer has bought a wind turbine which can generate output between 0-160V DC.

I am thinkin of charging BYD batteries over this wind turbine. However I need a clever protection and a charge controller. Since wind is fluctuating as sun, I am thinking of putting a MPPT Charge controller (e.g. Smartsolar 250/100) inbetween. Does anyone have experience with this ? Do I need other protection ?

MPPT controllers designed for PV are not suitable for use with a WT

MidNite Classic 250 …

It has been done before, search the old community

But you cant do it with just an mppt, you need dumpload too

Yes, folks have connected a WT to an MPPT controller designed for PV, but the production will be uncontrollable … just ponder what happens to the blade speed while the algorithm is sweeping …

thanks for the feedback. However it is not possible to get the midnite here in our country. maybe we can use a simple pwm solar controller of victron with it. However dump load is another problem of course.

Charge controllers designed for PV will not work when connected to a WT, i refer you to a previous answer.
